Gessner Engineering provided civil, geotechnical, and structural engineering services for the design of a new fire station, classroom building, and multi-story burn tower in New Braunfels, TX. The project includes a 16,500 square foot fire station, a 4,800 square foot classroom building, and a 2,000 square foot multi-story burn tower. The fire station features a structural steel frame with cold form metal framing infill and CMU walls around the apparatus bays, supported on a slab-on-void foundation. The classroom building incorporates similar structural elements, with a structural steel frame and cold-formed metal framing infill, also supported on a slab-on-void foundation.
The burn tower, designed for specialized training, features a superstructure supported on a slab-on-grade foundation, with the design of the superstructure completed by a third-party consultant. Gessner Engineering’s comprehensive approach ensured that each building was constructed with a solid foundation and structurally sound elements to meet the unique needs of a fire station and training facility.
