Tarleton State University developed a parking garage to help alleviate congestion, providing much-needed parking for students, faculty, and visitors while integrating with the campus environment. Gessner Engineering delivered integrated civil, geotechnical, and surveying solutions to support a safe, compliant, and constructible parking garage at Tarleton State University. A subsurface geotechnical investigation and laboratory testing provided clear foundation and pavement recommendations that reduced risk and ensured the garage was supported by a stable subgrade. Precise topographic surveying—capturing control, utilities, and existing features—supplied the accurate base needed for efficient site design and conflict-free construction. Our civil team designed coordinated grading, drainage, utilities, paving, and fire access to improve site function and secure required approvals, including TxDOT access permitting.

Solutions
To maximize parking capacity within the restricted footprint, the team implemented creative grading solutions. Additionally, we strategically routed utilities through a designated corridor. Close coordination with the City of Stephenville ensured that changes to drainage patterns met regulatory requirements without adding unexpected costs. These solutions allowed the university to optimize parking availability while maintaining compliance with city infrastructure improvements.
